ZOOM VS Microsoft Teams. Which platform is good for video conferencing?
The most famous platform for video
conferencing is ZOOM. ZOOM is a platform used for telecommuting and Internet
lectures. The screen and camera can be used simultaneously, and it is now the
largest platform for video conferencing. However, there were many problems with
ZOOM. There have also been several recent issues. In addition to ZOOM, Microsoft
Teams also has a video conferencing platform to replace it. In this post, we
are going to talk about the two platforms. We will deal with the advantages and
disadvantages of the two platforms and the recent issues.

ZOOM
As mentioned earlier, ZOOM is a good
platform for telecommuting, Internet lectures, and real-time online classes. It
is a platform that many companies, institutions, and schools use. ZOOM was
launched in 2011 and has been in operation for a long time, with the spread of the
coronavirus causing a surge in demand around the world.
ZOOM has many features. Chatting and group
meetings, as well as voting, handshaking, screen sharing, and remote control
requests are possible. Because it has so many functions, it has gained a lot of
popularity among people and currently has the largest number of users among
video conferencing platforms. However, the more users there are, the more
problems arise. ZOOM is of course a great platform, but I will try to deal with
the problem of this platform.

ZoomBombing and security issues
As the number of people using ZOOM has
increased rapidly, several problems have arisen. Among them, ZoomBombing is
the most problematic. Since ZOOM can be accessed by link without signing up,
everyone can access the chat room with the link created when creating the chat
room. By exploiting this, there have been more cases of uninvited third parties
breaking into the chat room without permission. This phenomenon led to the
emergence of a new term, Zoom Bombing.
There are so many cases according to this.
While worshiping online, there was an incident in which malicious users
dominated the chat window and left racist and religious remarks. In some cases,
the event was suspended due to ZoomBombing while holding the forum on video,
and during video conferences at various educational institutions, malicious
users played back obscene photos and racist comments.
The biggest recent incident was when the Iowa Senate leader was hit by ZoomBombing. An uninvited guest who broke in
during a virtual meeting played pornography. This is a big problem because this
happened during a video conference at a state agency. This is why there is a
lot of talk about the security of ZOOM. Of course, the terrorist who caused the
aforementioned incident will be prosecuted. It is foolish to think of
terrorizing a meeting held by a state agency.
The security of ZOOM is an indispensable
issue related to China. ZOOM's CEO is Eric Yuan, a Chinese-American. He placed
ZOOM's server in China, where tests in the United States revealed that the
encryption key was being transmitted to the Beijing server. Since this fact was
known, security-related controversy has erupted over ZOOM.
These incidents led to the exclusion of
ZOOM from around the world, and the FBI launched a hacking investigation into
ZOOM. Subsequently, the update did not store the encryption key in China, and
security issues were continuously being addressed. However, I still can't trust
ZOOM because ZOOM has a criminal record. Although ZOOM is a program with many
advantages, it has received poor reviews on security.

Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams is a work collaboration
tool for companies and schools using chat threads. Companies can use it as a
messenger for business communication, and schools can use it as a tool for
telecommuting. Unlike ZOOM, Microsoft Teams requires a separate account to use
it. Anyone with a Microsoft account can use it.
The advantages of Microsoft Teams are very
good for use in companies. Since it is a program that focuses on the
organization, it is a program that combines various functions such as video
conferencing, chatting, and calendar that are needed in collaboration. It is
different from ZOOM, which focuses only on video conferencing. Microsoft Teams
is offering more features.
Microsoft Teams has a very good sound quality,
and the basic function of video calls and the sharing of PC screens are very
good quality. It is also a very useful program for office workers because it is
constantly updated to reflect the needs of users and is linked to service apps
of Microsoft O365. However, Microsoft Teams also has its drawbacks.

Disadvantages of Microsoft Teams
All platforms have advantages and
disadvantages. So is Microsoft Teams. The biggest drawback of Microsoft Teams
is that it is only available at O365 Busniess Premium. While ZOOM is very
accessible, Microsoft Teams is less accessible. And there are small bugs in
Microsoft Teams. Of course, this problem can be improved with future updates,
but so far it is a serious problem. Another problem is the absence of alarm
functions. Basically, if you don't set it up, the notification doesn't ring, so
it's a hassle to set it up separately. Lastly, it's too slow. Because the app
itself is heavy and the CPU usage is very high, it is not as good as ZOOM,
which works smoothly on all platforms.
Today's conclusion
Today, we learned about ZOOM and Microsoft
Teams. If you are a student, it would be better to use ZOOM. Microsoft Teams is
of course a good program, but there are many options that students do not need.
We recommend using ZOOM rather than using Microsoft Teams at a cost. However, if
you are an office worker who runs a business or runs a business, I recommend
Microsoft Teams. This program is very helpful for you to manage and maintain
your team.
